The space behind the driver's seat is whole 'nother story. So far I've bought two different-sized plastic storage containers and I'm oh-fer-two, but the search goes on. And it needs a a lid on it to keep its contents out of sight while it's parked. I want one that fits snugly but isn't jammed in so tight that I can't flip the lid off while still in the drivers steat without having to fight with it. So I'm looking for a Goldilocks-sized storage container to be a removable substitute. I was formulating a plan for filling the space behind the passenger's seat with a permanent storage fixture - such as I've seen in many of the DIYs on this site - but then I remembered the gypsy fortune teller who predicted there was a puppy in my not-too-distant future, a puppy that in time would grow up to weigh as much as me and be named 'Cujo.' So I had to back off on the plan to install a Craftsman tool chest because in due course there probably will be a dog's bed back there. So I've still got three seats installed (or two and a pillion), so in a pinch I could (theoretically) carry two passengers in the cab, provided I didn't much like either of them. I moved the extension-less jumpseat from the driver's side to the spot I'd evicted the passenger's side jumpseat from. I sit with the driver's seat so far back (literally on the final notch on the rail) and with the seatback leaned so far back that I was risking being sued buy the ASPCA if I were to let so much as a teacup poodle ride in the jumpseat behind me. the jumpseats both are unfit for anything larger than a housecat or a very small dog. I also ditched the passenger's side jump seat (the one with the extension) because 1. Are any of you using add-ons to the outside mirrors? And if so, what and where? So if any of youz guys know of one that you would recommend, please let me know. But I'm also thinking glass might be too much of an ask because it might be too heavy for the existing mirror to remain stationary under. So without seeing it for myself (or getting an opinion from a reliable source), I am disinclined to buy any "mirror" online that doesn't state plainly that it's real glass for fear that the quality of the reflection won't be up to my standards. (AFAIk) can't be clipped on the existing mirror (probably are too heavy if I could). I might be able to get past that "glass substitute" thing if I could find it at a brick-and-mortar store and see it with my own eyeballs before buying it but that doesn't seem to be likely to happen because I've checked every auto parts store within 30 miles and the closest I came was a "Wink"-style multi-panel mirror. And I would prefer glass, not mylar or other aluminized glass substitute. One that's around 3-1/2" high and somewhere around 12-14 inches wide. So I'm not really asking for much, just a FLAT mirror (NOT convex), preferrably not tinted, that can be clipped over the factory mirror. But if you remove the jump seat headrests, that lends the possibility that that visibility problem could be somewhat rectified with a wider interior mirror. The SV's short cab doors and shorter suicide doors make for horrible rear quarter vision. The mirror is not even 2-1/2 inches tall and I reckon 3-1/2" should fix that particular problem.īut there's a second problem, which isn't that evident until you've removed the headrests. Close but not quite, despite the fact that I sit as far back as the seat will go, and with the seat back leaned back considerably. One reason I say that is because it cannot be adjusted so that I can see both the top of the rear window and the top of the tailgate at the same time. ![]() The interior rear view mirror is too small. That was then I identified the first "this has GOT TO be fixed" that I haven't yet found a solution to. The first thing I did was toss the jumpseat headrests because all they were doing was blocking my rear view in a truck that already was harder to see out of than a Confederate submarine. ![]() I've been lurking here ever since but I've reached the point in my customization process where mere lurking no longer hauls the freight and I need to pose some direct questions and ask for advice. Right after bringing it home for the first time, I browsed the Interwebs looking for a source for technical information to help me sort it out and Club Frontier struck me as the most active and the most knowledgeable that I came across. ![]() However, comma, it isn't perfect, and it has some (what I would call) shortcomings that could benefit from some TLC or DIY. It was love at first drive, a lot of truck in a small package, and drives more like a car than a truck has any right to. A few weeks ago I bought a cherry '13 KC SV and I am smitten with it.
